As I prepare for bed I spend my awake moments in prayer, contemplation and just sharing with God what exactly is on my heart. I think of all the things I've heard and read Christian and secular. I do some research on some topics and I always end up in the same place, nothing matters without genuine love. This is the true Paranormal experience. A heart conversion or transplant, if you will, by God.
I thought of how over the years I had strangers come up to me and are able to share with me that they know I'm a Chrisitan. I have no slogans, bumper stickers, t-shirts on nor do I have to announce my calling or share my gifts. I am just going about my daily life and as the Lord leads do what He has asked me to do, but mostly my life would seem as though there should be more and maybe there is, but that's not the point of discussion. These people noticed something and it had nothing to do with me I can only account it to the presence of God and my relationship with Him.
It's easy for people to keep you "busy", give you their opinions of what they "think" you should be doing by now and more yet I find there is still something that we may have to face in church's today that maybe we haven't fully reflected on and that is, is our love conditional? What does that have to do with what I shared? During Jesus' time the religious sector wouldn't allow certain people in their clicks unless they abided by their "traditions". I'm not speaking of the legitimate laws of God I'm talking about if you scratch my back I will scratch yours attitude or if you keep my rules and sometimes you can scratch someone's back but it doesn't mean they were going to keep their word about scratching yours. So in other words you belong to a click. I'm not speaking of true fellowship with believers we shouldn't neglect that I'm talking about to be in the "in crowd" you have to play by their rules yet when these people identified my faith I was not affiliated with anyone. I wasn't operating in any ministry to evangelize etc even though I attended church etc. I was just "being". Understand these experiences were in different locations miles apart, and different times in my life.
Jesus pointed out the world loves their own. There is alot of truth to that if you fully understand what Jesus was saying and well Jesus said it, so it has to be true, but the question is are we Christians doing the same thing:
Luk 6:31-36 And as you desire that men should do to you, you do also to them likewise. For if you love those who love you, what thanks do you have? For sinners also love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what thanks do you have? For sinners also do the same. And if you lend to those of whom you hope to receive, what thanks do you have? For sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return. And your reward shall be great, and you shall be the sons of the Highest. For He is kind to the unthankful and to the evil. Therefore be merciful, even as your Heavenly Father is merciful.
As I contemplate the events of the times, and when I say Church I say it loosely there are those who are being faithful and obedient to the Lord, but as I hear what is coming out of some pulpits, and ministries I have to ask myself several questions and one of them being "Are We There Yet?". Do I offer Grace? Sure, Do I offer forgiveness? Sure but when we examine our hearts maybe this is one area we need to examine. I find when you ask God the right questions then you will get the answer you are looking for.
So ask yourself or actually God? Will I do only for those who will do back for me? What is truly the motive behind what I am doing? (We can be good at disguising this one). Is my love conditional? Am I extending mercy or judgment? Ask yourself are you being kind to the unthankful and to the evil as Your Heavenly Father does? Do you do your "act of kindness" with a hyppocritical heart or outward appearance but inwardly you are thinking something else? Are you gossiping about them then calling it prayer?
Hmmm most people know the story of the Good Samaritan, he went beyond what was expected. Our call is to go beyond sinners because after all Jesus said it is our love for one another that will show we are His disciples. After all wasn't it because of God's love that people got saved in the first place? Just something to ponder maybe even the next time you take communion.
Optional Prayer:
Father if I've been hypocritical or even only love those who love me forgive me. If I have not loved as You desire I should love then help Me that I may love genuinely. Expose to me any hidden agendas or motives I may have that are not pleasing to you and show me those whom I have hurt with my attitudes and actions that caused them to be rejected by me because they did not meet up to my standards. We may be called to judge the fruit but it is You who judges the heart. Show me the error of my ways and help me to turn back from them that the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight and to Your ears. Thank you. In Jesus' name. Amen
